When to Seek an Orthopaedic Assessment

An assessment by an orthopaedic surgeon with experience in sports injuries may be appropriate when symptoms develop after exercise or an injury, including pain, swelling, difficulty walking or a feeling that a joint is unstable.

An orthopaedic consultation may be helpful in cases such as:

  • Knee pain or instability following an injury
  • Suspected ACL tear or another ligament injury
  • Shoulder pain or difficulty raising or moving the arm
  • Recurrent dislocations
  • Persistent symptoms that limit sports or everyday activities
  • Joint problems that may require surgical assessment

A clinical examination and review of any relevant imaging can help determine the most appropriate approach for each individual case.

Panagiotis Kouloumentas is included in Iatromedia’s list of Leading Sports Medicine Physicians and Surgeons in Greece.
