Dr. Eirini Mantzari
ENT Surgeon | Functional & Reconstructive Rhinoplasty | Facial Plastic Surgery
Dr. Eirini Mantzari, MD, PhD, is an experienced ENT surgeon specialising in Functional and Reconstructive Rhinoplasty, Nasal Surgery and Facial Plastic Surgery, with extensive clinical and surgical experience in both adult and paediatric Otolaryngology.
She currently serves as Director of the 2nd ENT Clinic – Nasal Surgery, Functional and Reconstructive Rhinoplasty at IASO Hospital in Athens, while maintaining her private practice in Chalandri, Attica.
Her professional career is characterised by a commitment to surgical excellence, continuous scientific development and a highly individualised approach to patient care.
With advanced training at specialised medical institutions in Greece and Europe, Dr. Mantzari has developed particular expertise in primary and revision rhinoplasty, combining the principles of functional nasal surgery with a refined understanding of facial anatomy, proportions and aesthetic balance.
Her surgical philosophy is founded on a fundamental principle: successful rhinoplasty should enhance facial harmony while preserving or improving nasal function.
Her approach to rhinoplasty combines elements of both closed and open techniques, integrating their respective advantages through meticulous, tissue-preserving surgical methods. Where anatomically and surgically appropriate, this approach allows her to avoid external incisions and visible external scars.
Every procedure is individually planned, taking into consideration the patient’s anatomy, nasal breathing, structural support and aesthetic expectations.
Areas of Expertise
Dr. Mantzari’s clinical and surgical expertise includes:
- Primary Rhinoplasty: Individualised correction of nasal shape, proportions and structural characteristics, with particular attention to facial harmony and breathing function.
- Revision Rhinoplasty: Assessment and surgical correction of functional or aesthetic concerns following previous nasal surgery, including complex reconstructive cases.
- Functional Rhinoplasty: Surgical management of nasal obstruction and structural abnormalities affecting nasal breathing.
- Reconstructive Nasal Surgery: Restoration of nasal support, anatomy and function in cases requiring structural reconstruction.
- Otoplasty: Surgical correction of prominent ears, with particular attention to natural appearance, symmetry and facial harmony.
- Functional Endoscopic Sinus Surgery (FESS): Endoscopic management of nasal and paranasal sinus disorders, including chronic rhinosinusitis, nasal polyposis and other conditions requiring endoscopic surgical treatment.
- Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA): Assessment and combined surgical approaches for the management of obstructive sleep apnea, according to each patient’s individual anatomical and functional requirements.
- Adult and Paediatric Otolaryngology: Diagnosis and medical and surgical treatment of a broad spectrum of ENT conditions (including tonsillectomy, adenoidectomy, surgical management of laryngeal polyps and other benign laryngeal lesions), as well as comprehensive management of conditions affecting the nose, paranasal sinuses, ears, pharynx and larynx.
Approach to Rhinoplasty
A Personalised Approach to Nasal Surgery
For Dr. Mantzari, rhinoplasty is not simply a procedure designed to change the appearance of the nose. It is a complex surgical intervention requiring a detailed understanding of nasal anatomy, structural support, breathing function and the relationship between the nose and the surrounding facial features.
Consultation begins with understanding the patient’s priorities, assessing the nasal anatomy and discussing what surgery can realistically achieve.
For primary rhinoplasty, planning focuses on nasal shape, structural support, facial proportions and breathing function. In revision rhinoplasty, it also considers the effects of previous procedures and the specific reconstructive requirements of each case.
Her surgical approach combines elements of both closed and open rhinoplasty, bringing together the advantages of each through gentle, tissue-preserving techniques without external incisions or visible external scars. Each procedure is tailored to the patient’s anatomy, with careful attention to nasal support, breathing function and a natural-looking result.
This scar-sparing approach is employed whenever appropriate for the individual case, while conventional open techniques remain an option when required by the surgical anatomy or reconstructive complexity.
The aim is a result that complements the face, preserves individual character and supports nasal function.
Education and International Training
Dr. Mantzari graduated from the Medical School of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, where she also earned her PhD with Distinction.
Her doctoral research, conducted at the First University ENT Department of Hippokration General Hospital, focused on otosclerosis and otoacoustic emissions.
She completed her specialist training in Otolaryngology at Elpis Hospital, with additional training at Hippokration General Hospital and Aglaia Kyriakou Children’s Hospital.
Her medical training also included General Surgery at Pammakaristos Hospital, Plastic Surgery at Agios Savvas Hospital and Neurosurgery at Asklepieio Voulas Hospital.
She subsequently pursued advanced surgical training in Greece and internationally:
- Functional and Reconstructive Rhinoplasty: Advanced training under Dr. A. Skouras, President of the Hellenic Society of Functional Rhinoplasty, with particular emphasis on closed rhinoplasty techniques.
- Advanced Rhinoplasty Training: Diakonessenhuis Utrecht, the Netherlands, under P. J. F. M. Lohuis.
- Facial Plastic Surgery and Otoplasty: University Medical Center Utrecht, the Netherlands, under D. J. Menger and G. J. Nolst Trenité.
- Functional Endoscopic Sinus Surgery (FESS): University Medicine Greifswald, Germany, under Professor Werner Hosemann.
This multidisciplinary and international training informs her approach to nasal surgery, combining an understanding of the nasal airway with the principles of facial aesthetics, structural preservation and reconstruction.

Surgical Philosophy
Natural Results. Individual Identity. Functional Excellence.
Dr. Mantzari believes that the most successful rhinoplasty is one that respects the unique identity of the individual.
The objective is not to create a standardised or recognisable nasal shape, but to achieve a result that is balanced, natural and appropriate for each patient’s facial anatomy.
Her philosophy is based on five fundamental principles:
- Individualisation: Every surgical plan is developed according to the patient’s anatomy, functional requirements and aesthetic goals.
- Natural Aesthetics: The nose should complement the surrounding facial features without appearing artificial or overcorrected.
- Functional Preservation: Nasal breathing and structural stability are essential considerations throughout surgical planning.
- Surgical Precision: Meticulous technique, anatomical understanding and careful tissue handling are central to achieving predictable and stable outcomes.
- Respect for Tissue: Whenever appropriate, tissue-preserving and scar-sparing techniques are employed to minimise unnecessary surgical trauma.
Her approach combines the precision of modern rhinoplasty with an understanding of the relationship between nasal structure, facial harmony and respiratory function.
The ultimate goal is not simply to change a nose, but to achieve a natural, harmonious and functional result that belongs to the face.
